The da Vinci Robot® for Urology Surgery
NWH performs cutting edge robotic surgery for a variety of cancers using the da Vinci® Surgical System.
This minimally invasive, three-dimensional surgical device combines computer and robotic technologies to allow surgeons to perform complex surgeries through very small incisions.

The da Vinci® 'robot' is used to treat cancers of the prostate, kidneys, and bladder and to reconstruct the urinary tract.
Benefits of this technology include:
"In the past, patients would stay in the hospital up to a week and have a six to eight week recovery time," said Division of Urology Chief and Medical Director of the Prostate Cancer Program, Warren Bromberg, MD. Dr. Bromberg has been using the da Vinci® Surgical System for the past three years and has performed approximately 300 surgeries with the device.
NWH is one of only a few hospitals outside of New York City that is using the da Vinci® System for kidney, bladder, and prostate surgery.
