Center for Sleep Medicine at Northern Westchester Hospital Earns National Accreditation
The Center for Sleep Medicine at Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH) in Mount Kisco recently received national accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the country's leading governing agency promoting the highest quality of medical care for people with sleep problems. The Center, which opened its doors in 2000, has recently received a five-year accreditation after demonstrating high standards in multiple areas including testing procedures and policies, patient safety and follow-up, and physician and staff training.
"We are very pleased we have achieved accreditation," said Dr. Nicholas Rummo, director of Cardiopulmonary Services at NWH, and the Center's medical director. "We have a very good mix of physicians-we have a sleep neurologist, a pediatric pulmonologist, and myself, an adult pulmonologist, providing a broad range of expertise for treating sleep disorders."
The Center, which has grown significantly over the past eight years, treats about 1,000 patients a year for a variety of sleep issues including sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and movement disorders. In addition, the Center's staff conducts 20 to 25 sleep studies a week.
