A Family Affair: Baby is Fourth Generation to be Born at NWH
Taylor John Julian was born at 8:24 p.m. on November 3, 2008, at Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH) in Mount Kisco. The newborn-who weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces-is the first child of Peter and Lauren Julian of South Salem, and the latest family member to be born at NWH. Baby Taylor joins a long line of immediate and extended family members who entered the world at NWH, making him the fourth generation on his father's side to be born at the Hospital.
Dad Peter Julian's grandmother, Katherine Johnson of Bedford Hills, was born at NWH on March 24, 1930, when the 17-year-old hospital was only a single brick building. Katherine went on to marry Peter Fazzinga of Bedford Hills and their four children were all born at NWH, including Peter's mother Penny Fazzinga, in 1955. Peter's sisters, Kelly and Leigh Ann, were also born at NWH in 1977 and 1979, respectively, as were four first cousins. Ironically, Peter was born in Italy in 1975 while his father was stationed there with the Navy for two years- narrowly missing out on the family tradition.
Although Peter wanted his son to be born at NWH because his mother was, he didn't really make the longtime family connection until his wife Lauren was in labor and his grandmother mentioned that she was born at NWH in 1930.
"This didn't dawn on us that there were four generations until we were in the delivery room," Peter Julian said.
They then began tracing back and estimated that between 30 and 40 family members have been born at NWH over the years.
