Eye-Bank Offers Education at Northern Westchester Hospital in Honor of Eye Donor Month
In March, Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH) in Mt. Kisco will team up with The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration to increase awareness about the need for eye, organ, and tissue donations. In honor of Eye Donor Month, the Eye-Bank will have an information table set up at NWH on March 3 and March 5 where members of the public and Hospital visitors, employees, physicians, and outpatients who would like to become donors will have the opportunity to sign up in the New York State Donate Life Registry.
The Donate Life Registry is a confidential, computerized list of New Yorkers who have enrolled to be eye, organ, and tissue donors as specified for the purposes of transplantation and research at the time of their death. There are currently more than 8,000 men, women, and children in New York State alone who are waiting for a life- or sight- saving transplant.
Representatives from The Eye-Bank will be on-hand at NWH from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 3 near the cafeteria and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 5 in the main lobby to offer assistance and answer questions. For more information about the New York State Donate Life Registry or about The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration, visit www.eyedonation.org or call 212-742-9000.
