The Breast Institute at Northern Westchester Hospital

The Breast Institute at Northern Westchester Hospital is comprised of a specialized team of professionals who are dedicated to diagnosing, treating, and managing breast cancer, including experts in oncological breast surgery, reconstructive plastic surgeons, medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, and nursing. Together with other specially-trained professionals, this team approach to treating breast cancer provides patients with the type of services needed to confront the disease, as well as physical, emotional and social side effects.

SPY Imaging at NWH

The SPY Imaging System provides clinically relevant information that empowers surgeons to make better informed critical decisions in the operating room. SPY allows surgeons to capture, review, print and archive high-quality image sequences of blood flow in vessels and micro-vessels, tissue and organ perfusion within minutes and in real-time during the course of performing a wide variety of surgical procedures.

Aesthetic Oncology is an integral component of breast cancer care at Northern Westchester Hospital. The oncological breast surgeons and the reconstructive plastic surgeons at NWH coordinate planning sessions in efforts to design customized treatment plans for individual patients, addressing the management of the cancer, while maintaining or enhancing body image and quality of life. The Breast Institute rates among the highest in breast preservation and primary reconstructive techniques for our patients. In addition, the physicians help coordinate proactive breast procedures in the management of patients who have the high-risk genetic predisposition to breast cancer. The medical and administrative staff at NWH is dedicated to providing a caring, safe and comfortable setting and a dedicated concierge will attend to the patient's needs on the day of surgery, allowing the patient to focus on the most important component - recovery.

The Breast Institute at NWH is committed to providing state-of-the-art technology with a human touch. Whether a patient requires digital mammography, x-ray localization, stereotactic biopsy or surgical treatment for breast disease, the dynamic, multidisciplinary program is designed to provide services to for the community.

Northern Westchester Hospital participates in the Westchester County Breast Health program, serving women regardless of insurance, for screening and diagnostic mammography services. Coordination of services through the hospital's Patient Navigator program augments the personal touch for patients.
